For the past several months, Rebel Alliance Theatre has been engaged in an intensive capital campaign aimed at raising money to purchase our own theatre building. Since May 2003 we have raised approximately $6000.00 in donations and pledges. This is encouraging, but we have a long way to go. More than anything, our theatre needs to build a strong base of loyal friends that we can rely on to provide consistent financial support. Funding for Rebel Alliance Theatre comes from several sources. One important source is our season of live community theatre. Not only do these shows provide great educational opportunities for those involved, they also bring in a large percentage of the Rebel's income each year. We are constantly striving to put together a strong season of performances that will appeal to a broad spectrum of theatregoers, at a reasonable price. You can provide great financial (and moral) support to the Rebel simply by making it a habit to attend our excellent shows! In addition to our regular season, Rebel Alliance performers are also available to individuals or groups who may need our special talents for educational presentations, special holiday performances, or private parties. We will also partner with other nonprofit groups in putting together fundraising events. Although our shows are a big help to our bottom line, we also rely on the generous support of our financial donors. We receive support from individuals, businesses, and local service organizations. It is our hope in the coming months to put together a list of subscribers that will commit to a yearly pledge of financial support. Watch for updates on this effort to build a subscriber base in upcoming newsletters. An area of fundraising that warrants more extensive exploration by our Theatre is the application for funding through grants. Once we are in possession of our own Theatre space, the potential to receive grant money will be greatly enhanced. Since we have a dual focus - both advancement of the arts, and the education and support of youth - there are many foundations and charitable institutions which we may approach for grant money. Recently, Rebel Alliance has begun a couple of fundraising promotions, which make it possible for almost anyone to help support our Theatre. The first is the "We Care" program through the Pick N Save stores. Anyone who has an Advantage Plus card may designate Rebel Alliance Theatre to receive a contribution every time they use their card. All you need to do is stop at the service desk of your local Pick N Save store and give them this number: 657275. This will allow a portion of all your purchase dollars to be donated to the Rebel. You may designate up to three different organizations on one card, so you may still support the Rebel even if you are already supporting other groups through "We Care". We have also enrolled in the "Milk Moola" promotion through the Kwik Trip Stores. For every milk, juice, and water cap bearing the Milk Moola label that we collect, we will receive $.05 from Kwik Trip. The caps may be dropped off at Papa John's Pizza on West Ninth Street, or given to any Rebel Alliance Member. So as you can see, there are many ways in which you can help Rebel Alliance Theatre continue its important work in our community. Rebel Alliance Theatre is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and all donations to the Rebel are tax deductible. Donations may be sent to Rebel Alliance Theatre at PO box 852, Oshkosh, 54903-0582. Any donation inquiries may be directed to Jennifer Frank, fundraising coordinator, Rebel Alliance Theatre at frank6kids@yahoo.com or by calling (920)426-8580. Thank you for Supporting Rebel Alliance Theatre!
